Salamanders, turtles, and snakes- oh my!

We recently had the pleasure of enjoying a show put on by Snake Discovery at the Hudson Library. If you haven’t heard of them yet, they’re a hugely successful zoo/reptile experience with a massive YouTube following of nearly 3.5 million subscribers, and they’re located right here in Maplewood, MN!
The host of the library show was engaging and incredibly patient- he took the time to go around and make sure each child (and willing adult!) had the chance to individually see and gently pet each reptile. They had a scale-less snake that felt as soft as a peach, a turtle, some salamanders and snakes, and even a huge boa constrictor. After the show, my 9 year old insisted that we *must* go to Snake Discovery for his birthday this year.

Admission to the zoo is reasonably priced at $11/adult, $9/senior and child (ages 3-12), and free admission for kids under 2, making it a great option for large families.
Snake Discovery has several fun events planned this year, including habitat crafts, jewelry making, and night hikes where zoo-goers are able to explore the facility after dark with special flashlights, all available to check out on their website under the events tab.
On Saturday, July 19, they’ll be hosting a Meet & Greet event, where the owners Ed and Emily will be in to meet fans from 1:00 – 4:00pm. The event is free with zoo admission, and sounds like a great “backstage pass” opportunity for fans of their YouTube channel!
