Today’s blog is in honor of anyone who’s ever wished they could escape reality and jump through their TV to live in Stars Hollow.

You’re in luck, because you can come pretty darn close just by spending an afternoon in Stillwater, MN. There’s no better place to capture the cozy essence and eccentric vibe of our favorite fictional town.

Here’s a lineup of all the things I’d do during my ideal afternoon spent in our favorite rivertown:

  1. Pre-bridge Prep at Mike and Kat’s Other Place

Before doing anything, I’d drive through the beautiful historic North Hill Neighborhood and swing by the absolute sweetest coffeeshop in town, Mike and Kat’s Other Place. Not only will you find delish seasonal flavors (hello, snickerdoodle latte and spicy cinnamon mocha!), but the ambiance can’t be beat. Located in a historic building loaded with charm and character, you’ll enjoy the carefully curated interior design and small-town vibe. Be prepared to be served with a smile by Mike and Kat, whose passion about their coffee craft is abundantly clear.

If you’re lucky, you might even get to pet a corgi or two! Who needs a Luke’s when you’ve got Mike and Kat?

  2. Cross State Lines
Once I’d gotten my decaf in hand, I’d head on over to the lift bridge, about a one mile walk to the Minnesota side. The walk across the bridge into Wisconsin and back is the perfect distance to get your steps in without wearing yourself out.
  3. Peruse the Shops
Before heading home, I’d definitely make a few stops along the historic main street. I always have to take a peek into Käthe Wohlfahrt and ogle the Christmas ornaments and decorations. They are SO cute, and it never fails to get me in a festive mood. Autumn is the perfect time to pick out a special ornament to adorn your tree in a few months.
After that, I’d make sure to hit up Sota for some cute Minnesota themed goodies like beanies, charcuterie boards, glassware etc.

By the end of my adventures, my perfect autumn afternoon would almost be over! If you’ve got a little bit more time, you might want to swing by Gloria’s for some soft serve to wrap up your visit on a sweet note.
